Frequently asked questions
- What's my username?
- Your D2L username is your 8-digit MCTC ID number.
- I don't know, or forgot, my D2L password, how do I get it?
- From the D2L login page, click the Send me my password link located under the login button, then enter your MCTC ID and click the "Retrieve My Password!" button. A message containing your D2L login information will be sent to your MCTC email account.
- How do I login into D2L?
Located on numerous pages throughout MCTC's website, you'll see the D2L login button; click this button to go to D2L's login page, where you can enter in your D2L username and password to login in to D2L.
- I've logged into D2L, where are my courses?
- After logging into D2L, click the “+” sign to the left of the Semester name (for example, “
20065 - Spring 2006”). This will expand your listing of courses. Click on the title of the course to enter it.
- How do I send email from within D2L?
- Click on the Email link in the navbar at the top of the page. You can send messages to your instructor and/or classmates.
Be sure to cc or bcc yourself so that you retain a copy of the message.
- How do I check my MCTC email?
- Login to myMCTC, then click the "myEmail" button (located on the left side of the page) to access your email.
- I want to use an external email account, can I?
- Once you access your MCTC email account, you may configure it to forward email sent to your MCTC address to a non-MCTC email address. You are responsible for all email sent to your MCTC account, and are to make sure that any account you use to receive your forwarded MCTC email is not out of space and is checked regularly.
(This feature applies to student email accounts only.)
- How do I open documents that are in my course?
- You may click on the document link to open it. However, the best way is to right-click the link and open it in a new window. For PowerPoint or PDF documents, it may work best if you save it to a local location (such as your desktop or a local course folder) and then open it directly by double-clicking it.
- What is the best way to print documents in D2L?
- If you need to print any course docs, it may work best if you save the docs locally first right-clicking and saving. Then you can open the doc from outside D2L. If you are printing PowerPoint presentations, make sure you are using the Handout mode and printing 4-6 pages per sheet.
